You say you want a Revelation…

I’m not much into “end-of-the-world” fear or theology. It’s not the center of everything I believe, and I don’t like to make a fuss about it, but, damn, it’s been a weird, depressing year.  (Note, of course, that I’m actually prone to depression at times and take that into account here…)

How many millions of celebrities have left the planet this year? I think it may actually rain 30 of 31 days in July  and I have never seen climate change like this before (9 degrees below normal average for the month — that’s a whole lot of change! ). Recently, I read a National Geographic that said we as a planet have actually surpassed our ability to feed people on the planet. It’s not just distribution now. we just have too many mouths to feed.  Is the planet dead yet?

After 8 years of Reagan, 4 years of Bush, 8 years of Clinton scandals, 8 years of Bush, we in America — or maybe just our politicians, rich folks, lobbyists — refuse to even think about the poor (aka the majority of people, I think) and look at health care, poverty, social programs, etc. because we spent all out money blowing up Iraq.  We no longer care about each other. We may be beyond help with the planet and well… what’s the point?

It may be time for Jesus to come back and just say (buzzer noise) “Thanks for playing! That’s the end of our game!”. Don’t get your knickers in a twit either way.  The people that WANT the end times are — or should — end up in Hell and the people that are decent (most of my friends) that don’t believe in Jesus, well, if it’s up to me to me THEY should go to heaven.

For years of politics (see above), I’ve considered moving to another country (Canada always seems nice, except for the cold) and Britain’s got good beer, Ireland has Irish women (just because you’re on a diet doesn’t mean you can’t LOOK at the menu).   If the planet is shot (and I suspect it is), the whole change-country thing won’t work.  Leaving for another Eden or Utopia in space doesn’t look promising.  That only leaves a new dimension — which leaves me wishing for “a New Heaven and a New Earth… the old one has passed away”. Evil just seems to be gaining ground and not letting go.

The Bible says, in Revelation 21: 2-5   “I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Now the dwelling of God is with men, and he will live with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”  He who was seated on the throne said, “I am making everything new!”

Today, Lord Jesus, I’m done. The Revelation above sounds good to me. Come, Lord Jesus, come.

Author’s Note:  Hey, it’s the next day and I’m fine!!! Worked it through and am back to having a good life. Didn’t watch the news, did some things around the house, including sleeping.  I hope to not have any really whiny personal posts for a while. Thanks to those friends who commmented or sent e-mails.   As they say in Monty Python and the Holy Grail, “Im not dead yet!”
